Shou Sugi Ban Theatre Table

14″ wide solid wood bar height table is made of 19 individual 2-1/2″ thick solid oak, maple, poplar and hickory boards laid in an end grain butcher block style. This table is 92″ long and set on industrial black pipe legs.
The wood boards were joined together and finished using the Japanese style of wood treatment called Shou Sugi Ban during which the outside the wood was burnt with a blow torch. That finish was then sanded and sealed using a modern Poly product to eliminate ash transfer and to more closely accommodate modern lifestyles and internal use.
